Feature: ProntoQCS helps the manufacturer identify the origin of a problem by determining the source of raw material(s) used to create an item and trace it/them back to the lot of material(s) from which it was produced. This feature is included in the ProntoQCS Shop Floor Reporting Module.
Benefits: Should a problem arise, this feature provides an abundance of information. It allows the problem-solver to localize the problem to the specific raw material(s) used by determining the primary source of the original lot or batch of materials. The order in which the parts were manufactured from specific bulk raw material sources is traced.
Situation: Ladish Company, Inc. is a leading producer of highly engineered, technically advanced components for the jet engine, aerospace, and general industrial markets. The company is a market leader in manufacturing large, complex forged components. Ladish requires tight control of the manufacturing process. Because the products they manufacture demand a high degree of engineering skill and technical expertise, Ladish strives for consistency and predictability. Whether forging casings for jet engines or crankshafts for mining trucks, Ladish has the ability to trace an imperfect component to the ingot from which it was manufactured. One ingot may render numerous items for multiple purposes and diverse customers. ProntoQCS allows Ladish to trace a substandard item back to the ingot from which it was produced and identify what portion of the ingot it came from or its relative location. Items manufactured from that specific area of the ingot and/or items manufactured from areas in close proximity to the problem area on the ingot can be eliminated.
